SimTech doctoral researcher and one of the spokespersons of the GS SimTech, Ishaan Desai, recently gave a talk at the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland. Glenn's main campus has world-class facilities including wind tunnels, drop towers, vacuum chambers, and a research aircraft hangar.
In his talk Adaptive and Flexible Software Framework for Two-Scale Coupled Problems, Ishaan Desai explained a software package for facilitating coupling between problems on different physical scales, that he is developing on top of the coupling library preCICE. The development of this software is also a core part of his research in SimTech.
Multiscale simulation tools are increasingly deemed important to capture the effects of changes at the micro scale, on the meso and macro scale. Such tools are relevant to NASA Glenn due to their potential application in modeling composite structures at different scales for aerospace applications.
