CESSDA Tools Open Hour in October will cover the topics of Web application for reviewing datasets in Dataverse (presented by Jan Range, Research Data Software Engineer, Stuttgart University) and  CESSDA Metadata Validation web tool (presented by Matthew Morris, CESSDA Technical Officer). It will be focused once again on the questions and discussion by the interested CESSDA Service Providers.

Jan Range, Research Data Software Engineer in SimTech and PhD Researcher at the Institute of Biochemistry and Technical Biochemistry, will talk about "Web application for reviewing datasets  in Dataverse" (Easy Review):

  • Reviewers can accept/decline/comment on each field and suggest other fields to be added. A well-formatted PDF/E-mail is generated from the review. Potential revisions are stored to the document to keep track of the dataset evolution.
  • The goal is to streamline the review process and allow multiple experts to participate in it.

EasyReview is a website tool designed to help review datasets stored in Dataverse. Datasets are an important part of RDM to guarantee high quality date. EasyReview breaks down the review process by looking at each field of the dataset individually. Reviewers can be easily invited to join the review through a provided link, and can share their feedback with others involved in the process.

The Dataverse Project is an open source web application to share, preserve, cite, explore, and analyze research data. It facilitates making data available to others, and allows you to replicate others' work more easily. Researchers, journals, data authors, publishers, data distributors, and affiliated institutions all receive academic credit and web visibility. During the regular meetings between the Dataverse Team and the Dataverse Community which take place every other week, the Dataverse Team presents updates concerning Dataverse Software and enhances discussions about new features and changes. The community is invited to give feedback and to proactively present new tools and developments.
