Into the depths: Studying CO2 in karst caves
Although we know a lot about how carbon dioxide (CO2) works in our atmosphere, there are still some unanswered questions about its natural behavior underground. Researchers in the Swabian Alb are using karst caves as underground laboratories to investigate how much CO2 exists underground, how it moves through the rock, and what chemical reactions it undergoes. Their findings could offer valuable insights for improving climate models.
