Syn Schmitt elected to be Equal Opportunities Officer of SC SimTech

At the 14th session of the General Assembly of the Stuttgart Centre for Simulation Sciences, the participants elected JP Syn Schmitt as its equal opportunity officer on 10 January 2018.

Syn Schmitt, wo completed his doctorate in 2006 at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen, works at the Institute of Sports Science (InSpo). He is 42 years old, married and father of two. For both children, he took five months’ parental leave and felt that the time was very valuable. That the gender equality topic is a topic of all sexes is very important to him: “I know that this position is usually held by women. But even in science, the issue of reconciling work and family or private life in general is very important and affects everyone. Therefore, I would like to contribute to the fact that in SC SimTech nobody is excluded from a scientific career for reasons that lie outside of science.

Syn Schmitt was elected to this position for two years.
