Focus Meetings

At irregular intervals, we hold focus meetings on current topics in simulation technology. These targeted discussions allow participants from industry and academia to exchange knowledge and application examples on a complex topic in a structured and purposeful manner.

Digital Twins” with participants from HLRS, GSame, VISUS, Siemens AG, MAHLE Behr GmbH & Co. KG, Homag Group AG, and the Excellence Cluster EXC 2075. With around 20 participants, we discussed the concept of a digital twin and the importance of digital twins for optimally operating systems in terms of operational safety, cost, and availability through simulation and data.

"The Role of Simulation in the COVID-19 Pandemic"
The two-hour workshop began with a discussion and brief presentations on how participants from research and industry are experiencing the current pandemic situation in their work environment. This was followed by several interesting presentations from members of SimTech, showcasing how research at the University of Stuttgart can contribute to combating the pandemic.

Virtual Delegation Journey between Siemens Research and the EXC 2075
On a virtual delegation trip 15 SimTech participants visited the Siemens research group “Modeling, Simulation & Optimization (MSO)” in Munich. During the two-hour meeting, several commonalities were identified, and it was agreed to strengthen cooperation in several key areas such as “Machine Learning and Simulation”, “Model Order Reduction”, “Uncertainty Quantification”, “Simulation of Production” and “Augmented and Virtual Reality”.

Inventing the Future – University of Stuttgart meets Bosch
What does the mobility of the future look like? How can the transfer from basic research to groundbreaking innovations, such as in quantum technology, be successful? How can the Stuttgart region remain strong in innovation during times of transformation? The University of Stuttgart and Bosch discussed solutions to pressing future questions and new forms of networking between science and industry at the joint event "Inventing the Future – University of Stuttgart meets Bosch".
