Holger Steeb, a long-standing SimTech member and part of the SimTech board of directors, was unanimously elected as the new director of the Stuttgart Center for Simulation Science (SC SimTech) during the last general meeting of the SC SimTech on July 5.
He succeeds Thomas Ertl, who successfully led both the SC SimTech and the Cluster for many years but is retiring in October 2023.
“With Holger Steeb, we have exactly the right person in this position. He knows SimTech like no other and is extremely successful in his work. I know that the SC SimTech is in good hands and I look forward to seeing how SimTech will develop in the coming years”, underlines Thomas Ertl.
The Stuttgart Center for Simulation Science (SC SimTech) forms the institutional and organizational framework for the research conducted in the Cluster of Excellence and warrants for the sustainable, long-term presence of simulation science in Stuttgart. Holger Steeb, who has long been instrumental in shaping SimTech's development and success, is also PI in the SFB 1313, the Collaborative Research Centre on "Interface-Driven Multi-Field Processes in Porous Media – Flow, Transport and Deformation", head of the Functional Soft Materials Lab and the Porous Media Lab, and PI in the newly funded Research Training Group “Mixed Ionic-Electronic Transport” (GRK 2948).
