Interview with Jan M. Nordbotten

Elissa Eggenweiler, SFB 1313 doctoral researcher, had the great pleasure to interview Jan Martin Nordbotten, mathematician and professor from the University of Bergen. On 30th January 2019, he has been giving a lecture within the SimTech colloquium about: "Mixed-dimensional modeling and simulation".

During the interview, we get to know about Jan Martin Nordbotten’s main research focus within the Porous Media Research Group of the University of Bergen, what he thinks about data integration in his porous media research, and about the cooperation between the University of Bergen and the University of Stuttgart.

About Jan Martin Nordbotten
Jan Martin Nordbotten is a professor at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Bergen and as part of the porous media research group. He furthermore holds a visiting appointment at Princeton Environmental Institute at Princeton University. Jan Nordbotten is a recipient of both national and international awards for his research, and is a former VISTA professor of the Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Letters. His publications span the whole spectrum of applied mathematics, including both theoretical and numerical methods.

His research is applied to topics as diverse as ecohydrology, evolution, medical imaging, porous media and renewable energy.
