On 23 July, Dr. Tobias Köppl successfully completed his habilitation at the University of Stuttgart. Under pandemic conditions he defended is habilitation thesis with the title “Model reduction techniques for simulation complex flow processes”. In his habilitation thesis he presents various model reduction techniques that allow an efficient description of flows without affecting the accuracy in terms of physical quantities that are of interest for certain applications.

Tobias Köppl is an applied mathematician. He received his doctorate in 2014 at the TU Munich. From 2014 to 2018, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Department for Hydromechanics and Modelling of Hydrosystems of the University of Stuttgart. Since 2019, he is Research Assistant at the Chair for Numerical Mathematics at TU Munich.

Dr. Köppl's habilitation is a joint procedure of Faculty 2 and the Stuttgart Center for Simulation Science (SC SimTech) at the University of Stuttgart.

Congratulations!
