Anneli Guthke, Independent Research Group Leader for Statistical Model-Data Integration, has been invited to convene a session at the upcoming Conference on “Computational Methods in Water Resources” (CMWR). It will take place from September 30th to October 3rd, 2024, in Tucson, Arizona (USA). Abstracts to this session can be submitted by May 20th.

The organizing committee has invited Anneli to host a session on “Inverse problems in hydrological modeling: from parameter estimation to uncertainty quantification and model identification”. Her co-conveners Velimir V. Vesselinov, Tianfang Xu and Marcel Schaap are international experts in the fields of physics-informed machine learning, environmental physics, groundwater modelling, and uncertainty quantification.

“We are looking forward to stimulating discussions about future directions of research in inverse hydrological modelling”, says Anneli Guthke. “It is an honour to lead this session and contribute to the community’s advances through scientific exchange and discussion. Also, it is a great opportunity to meet with my collaboration partners from the University of Arizona and the Stanford University to coordinate next steps in several projects and proposals.”

The CMWR has been established in 1976 and since then has been held biennially, alternating between locations in North America and Europe. It promotes cutting-edge interdisciplinary research on hydrological modelling, with a special focus on computational, statistical, and machine learning methods.
