Development of a material model for highly expandable foams

METEOR_1

Project Description

In this project, we aim for new and unique experimental investigations (foaming tests) using in-situ X-ray tomographic methods (in-situ XRCT) for the class of highly expandable foam materials. As a result of the performed in-situ XRCT experiments, a data-rich training data set will subsequently be available for the identification of the material model.

As part of the foaming experiments, a generic and commercially available foaming material will be used to further develop the numerical-experimental methods. The methodological approaches that are developed in this project can subsequently be used directly for the (even) more complex materials and questions of the project partner. This applies to the developed method of material model identification as well as the numerical implementation of the material models and the XRCT setup.
