The VPH conference is the biennial premier event of the VPH (virtual physiological human) institute. The VPH conference 2024 is dedicated to the special theme Data-driven Simulation Technologies for Clinical Decision Making. In addition, four main topics are formulated, which create the link between the conference and the research focus of the University of Stuttgart as host:

  • Multi-modal systems models for clinical applications
  • Advances in data-driven Simulation Sciences
  • Novel Sensing Technologies
  • Clinical Applications

The conference schedule is based on parallel sessions, two poster sessions, a podium discussion, a public outreach event for patients and four highlight plenary lectures. Social events will provide the possibility for spontaneous exchanges and deeper discussions. The parallel sessions contain classic tissue-specific (e.g. skeletal muscle modelling, brain tissue modelling, joint and bone mechanics) as well as method-specific (clinical imaging, quantum sensors, high performance computing) topics. However, instead of pure specialist sessions, it is the spirit and strong advantage of the VPH conference to communicate and discuss methodological skills and how basic research can find its way into clinical decision-making processes. These ideas are implemented not in separate sessions, but is the underlying theme of all sessions.

The overall aim of the VPH conference is to promote and advance the field of in-silico medicine by closing existing scientific, organisational and political gaps and bringing in-silico methods to clinical workflows. The scientific objective of the conference is thus to bring together clinical scientists, nature scientists, engineers, and others and to provide the opportunity to present and discuss advances in the individual research fields and methodologies and ways for interactions.
