The milestone presentation

At their milestone presentations, doctoral students receive feedback on their individual interim work results.

 (c) David Ausserhofer
The milestone presentation is an opportunity to reflect on the interim work results achieved in a doctoral thesis project.

The milestone presentation is designed to allow reflection on interim work results and for establishing the individual PhD students‘ remaining program of work in consultation with their respective supervisors.

The milestone presentation is held in the GS SimTech framework roughly 18 months after starting the doctoral thesis project.

Order of events

The milestone presentation consists of a public talk followed by a closed-door oral exam conversation with the dissertation supervisor(s).

In addition to the oral presentation, the doctoral students prepare a “Milestone Report” in which they detail in writing the status of their individual research activity to date.
