| 6:00 pm | Scientific Talk Numerical Methods for Simulations in Science and Engineering Per.Olof Persson (Argyris Visiting Professor 2024) Numerical simulations have become indispensable tools for advancing both engineering and scientific research. By combining mathematical models with computational power, we can predict complex physical phenomena, offering insights that are crucial for innovation in design, optimization, and analysis. In particular, models based on partial differential equations (PDEs) are central to many applications across the applied sciences. In this talk, I will provide a broad overview of the field, focusing on recent developments in high-order accurate finite element methods. Additionally, I will introduce the important area of unstructured mesh generation, highlighting my DistMesh software and our new approach based on deep reinforcement learning. |
