The Special Interest Group Data Infrastructure offers a forum to interested working groups that want to set up or further develop an RDM infrastructure at working group or institute level. We invite you to a monthly SIGDIUS seminar, to which we invite internal and external experts for presentations and discussions. SIGDIUS members will have the opportunity to exchange their experiences with concrete RDM infrastructures.

We cordially invite all interested parties to our next meeting on 8 December 2021 at 2pm. Due to the current situation, this seminar will be held as an online seminar. For participation, please send an e-mail to Juergen.Pleiss@itb.uni-stuttgart.de with the subject line "SIGDIUS seminar 8.12."

"Remote Research Code Execution and More - Current Projects of the Competence Center for Research Data Management"

Researchers that want to replicate results of others often need to run code, be it scripts, notebooks, or complex software tools. Nowadays, this can be a tedious task due to difficulties in the installation process, missing resources, or other requirements that can not easily be fulfilled by anybody. Although solutions exist, among others, containers, virtual environments, or research objects, there is a need for support by the infrastructure facilities to execute those artifacts or to facilitate access to them. In this talk currently ongoing projects with the participation of the Competence Center for Research Data Management of the University of Stuttgart will be presented that focus on research software: A service that executes docker images, a TOSCA runtime to deploy research object archives, a software license checker, and a JupyterHub will be introduced to the audience and potential use cases will be discussed.
