With this ML Session series we intend to provide individual and independent lecture sessions on ML related topics. This time Prof. Dr. Ingo Steinwart will talk about "Statistical Aspects of Machine Learning".

Machine Learning methods are typically motivated and investigated with the help of statistical concepts. In this talk, he will present and discuss the corresponding key notions . He will further introduce and explain common types of machine learning algorithms and their guarantees.

The talk is in an impromptu style, i.e., it will be mostly black-board-based with enough time for questions.

The next sessions will take place:
Dec 4, 2019, 2pm:  Neural Networks (T. Vu)
Jan 15, 2019, 2pm: Kernel Methods (B. Haasdonk)
Feb 5, 2019, 2pm: Gaussian Processes (M. Toussaint)
