After the success of the 1st International SimTech Summer School in 2022, SimTech now proudly presents the 2nd edtion which is dealing with Research Software Engineering with Julia: Basics, Visualization, and Statistics.
The development of research software has become an important part of research projects in many areas of science and engineering. At the same time, increasing computational power in the area of high performance computing has made computationally challenging statistical tasks feasible and highly desirable in many application fields.
Organized by SimTech’s Junior Professors Marco Oesting, Benjamin Uekermann, and Benedikt Ehinger, the summer school will take place from 9 to 13 October 2023 and familiarize participants with the most essential paradigms of software development, which support the design of efficient, user-friendly, and sustainable software. In particular, they will focus on the scientific programming language Julia.
Taking place at the University of Stuttgart, Campus Vaihingen, the summer school is organized around keynote presentations by Julia experts:
- Lisa DeBruine (University of Glasgow)
- Douglas Bates (University of Wisconsin)
- Hendrik Ranocha (University of Hamburg)
and many hands-on tutorials.
The summer school is for those who are at the beginning of their PhD and want to start with a solid foundation in Research Software Engineering or who simply always wanted to learn more about Julia.
