SimTech Alumnus Dr. Ganesh Sivaraman Appointed Assistant Professor at University at Buffalo

Dr. Ganesh Sivaraman, a distinguished alumnus of the Cluster of Excellence SimTech, has recently joined the Department of Materials Design and Innovation at the University at Buffalo as an Assistant Professor.

Dr. Sivaraman earned his PhD in Engineering Physics from the University of Stuttgart in 2017, where he conducted research under the supervision of Prof. Maria Fyta. During his doctoral studies, he was actively involved in the Collaborative Research Center (SFB) 716 and was a member of the SimTech Graduate School.​

Following his time in Stuttgart, Dr. Sivaraman held positions as a Postdoctoral Researcher and later as an Assistant Computational Scientist in the Data Science and Learning Division at Argonne National Laboratory. He then served as a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign before joining the University at Buffalo in January 2025.

Dr. Sivaraman's research interests encompass atomistic modeling, scientific machine learning, computational physics, and high-performance computing. He focuses on modeling intermediate temperature ionic liquids and high-temperature oxides, contributing significantly to the advancement of materials science.
