Since 2017, Nicole Radde has been the Equal Opportunities Officer of the University of Stuttgart. At the same time, she is Professor of Systems Theory in Systems Biology at the Institute of Systems Theory and Control Engineering, member of the board of directors of the Cluster of Excellence SimTech, member of the Cluster Committee for Diversity and Equality and mother of two children. If she does not exemplify the best case of reconciling career and family, then who does?

On October 15, she will now take part in the event "Female Leadership in Cyber Valley", which is part of the Women's Economy Days 2020. On this day, top women scientists and entrepreneurs from the Cyber Valley ecosystem will talk about their career path, who and what inspired them to pursue a career in science and technology and the challenges they faced.

The event is one of various workshops, congresses and lectures that will take place throughout the state between October 14 and 17 in Baden-Württemberg. The state government wants to support the equal rights of women in working life and in the economy through an active equal opportunities policy. For this reason, the Ministry of Economics, Labor and Housing organizes the Women's Economy Days every year.

"I very much support this format of the ministry, so it goes without saying that I will participate in the Cyber Valley event. I think it is so important to make women visible, to encourage and support them in their decisions. Many are already very successful and self-confident in the professional and in our case scientific environment. But there is definitely still a lot of room for improvement. We need to encourage women that a professional career is a viable option for them as well and that they do not have to choose one or the other. To achieve this, however, we must also create the appropriate conditions, which we are trying to introduce on a large scale at the University of Stuttgart and on a smaller scale in the Cluster of Excellence SimTech," underlines Nicole Radde in the run-up to the event.

Cyber Valley is Europe’s largest research consortium in the field of artificial intelligence with partners from science, industry, and society.
