Kristyna Pluhackova, SimTech junior research group leader in molecular dynamics (MD), has joined the editorial board of Communications Chemistry. This appointment highlights her contributions and expertise in the field of biological MD simulations, an area that the journal has been seeking to strengthen.
Kristyna's journey to this position began with her application, interview and selection due to her exceptional alignment with the journal's thematic focus. Communications Chemistry recognized the need for an expert in biological MD simulations, and Kristyna's extensive background and the positive resonance with the in-house editors made her the perfect fit.
Reflecting on her decision to join the editorial board, Kristyna shared, "I have published with Communications Chemistry and reviewed papers for them. The impression I got from their rigorous and high-quality work convinced me to join them. The conversation with the chief editor was particularly inspiring, leading me to support their mission."
As a member of the editorial board, Kristyna will be part of the peer review process, ensuring that submitted manuscripts meet the high standards of the journal. This role involves initial assessment of the paper, communication with authors, reviewers, and the in-house editorial team, as well as making timely decisions and providing personalized feedback.
The editorial board members of Communications Chemistry are active researchers and recognized experts in their fields. They play a crucial role in maintaining the journal's editorial standards and policies, contributing to the advancement of research within their sub-disciplines. "Communications Chemistry publishes specialized research with significant advances, the task of the editorial board members is to read the submitted manuscript and look for the advance from any one of the angles- concept, method, mechanism, performance, or insight. If the editor can identify new knowledge from any one of these aspects, the article is sent out for review to multiple experts (active scientists) who asses the originality, significance, rigorousness, clarity, and whether the research is up-to-date. Moreover, they identify gaps and flaws and provide constructive feedback." Kristyna adds: "What I also like about Communications Chemistry is that they award every month an outstanding reviewer. This kind of acknowledgement and the bit of the therefrom resulting publicity is the least a journal can do to appreciate the great amount of work the reviewers do for the journal and the scientific community for free."
Communications Chemistry is an open-access journal from the Nature Portfolio that publishes high-quality research, reviews, and commentary in all areas of the chemical sciences. The journal aims to provide significant advances that bring new chemical insights to specialized areas of research, as well as to serve as a community forum for issues important to all chemists, regardless of sub-discipline. Its scope includes analytical, inorganic, organic, physical, and materials chemistry, along with chemical biology, catalysis, computational chemistry, and many other fields.
Kristyna Pluhackova's addition to the editorial board is expected to further enhance the journal's mission of promoting significant research advancements and supporting the global chemistry community.
