Participants from the University of Stuttgart and the University of Bergen will meet from 12 to 15 June 2022 in the scenic Kleinwalsertal at the Söllerhaus for a workshop on “Energy storage in porous media".
Amongst the participants from Stuttgart are SFB1313 and SimTech researchers such as Wolfgang Nowak, Rainer Helmig, Christian Rohde, Holger Steeb, Holger Class, Nikolaos Karadimitriou and Arndt Wagner. From Bergen, Helge Dahle, Sarah Gasda, Ivar Stefansson, Olav Folkvord, Trine Mykkeltvedt, Na Liu and Kundan Kumar will join. At 1,320 meters above sea level in the most beautiful location above Hirschegg, surrounded by meadows and ski slopes, the participants will focus on the global topic energy storage in porous materials, including subsurface and H2 storage, thermal energy storage, numerical simulations and experimental challenges. One of the main goals however is to discuss and evaluate possibilities to initiate a joint international research training group (IRTG).
Since mid-June 2019, the University of Bergen is officially an international partner of the University of Stuttgart. However, a long-standing successful cooperation already exists between the Stuttgart Institute for Modelling Hydraulic and Environmental Systems and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Bergen.
In November 2021, the University of Stuttgart and the University of Bergen intensified its partnership with a joint kick-off event in Stuttgart. Scientists, leadership members and representatives of both universities met in a hybrid setting to discuss joint research questions, institutional goals and to develop ideas for future projects and exchange activities.
