Call for Contributions: preCICE Workshop 2025

May 5, 2025

The sixth edition of the preCICE Workshop will take place from September 8 to 12, 2025, at Helmut-Schmidt University (HSU) in Hamburg, Germany. We warmly invite contributions and participation from all users, developers, and researchers working with or interested in multi-physics simulations and coupling technologies.

About preCICE

preCICE is an open-source coupling library for partitioned multi-physics and multi-scale simulations. It enables the efficient, robust, and parallel coupling of separate single-physics solvers. By treating solvers as black boxes, preCICE requires only minimally-invasive modifications for integration.

Ready-to-use adapters exist for widely used open-source solvers such as OpenFOAM, SU2, CalculiX, FEniCS, and deal.II. The software provides functionality for equation coupling, parallel communication, data mapping, and time interpolation.

Workshop Structure

The preCICE Workshop 2025 is structured as follows:

  • September 8–9:
A two-day hands-on introduction course, ideal for both new and experienced users. This year, the course will include a new module on High-Performance Computing (HPC).

  • September 10–12:
The main part of the workshop will feature:

    • Presentations by the preCICE development team on recent advancements (including dynamic meshes, mesh-particle coupling, and macro-micro coupling)

    • User and developer talks

    • Poster sessions

    • Interactive discussions on standardizing adapters and application cases

Call for Contributions

We encourage all members of the community to contribute to the workshop. Submissions may include:

  • Talks (20 minutes):
Suitable for new solver adapters (e.g., G+Smo or ISSM), novel application areas, or new coupling methods relevant to the preCICE ecosystem.

  • Posters:
Ideal for revisiting classical use cases or presenting follow-ups to previous workshop contributions.

Submission of a contribution is not required for attending the workshop, but your input is highly welcome and appreciated.

Registration and Venue

The workshop will be held at Helmut-Schmidt University, Holstenhofweg 85, 22043 Hamburg. As HSU is a military research institution, a valid ID or passport is required to access the campus.

Registration deadline is July 15, 2025. For further information on fees and accommodation please check the workshop page.
