submitted and presented to the conference at the Metadata and Semantics Research Conference MTSR in Milan, 25th until 27th October 2023.
Applied mathematics rely on mathematical models and numerical algorithms. To make this kind of research data more accessible, the Mathematical Research Data Initiative (MaRDI) has created ontologies and knowledge graphs. Using the case of microfracture analysis in porous media, we can demonstrate how ontologies can represent the mathematical models and numerical algorithms used. The presented approach to represent knowledge around mathematical models and algorithms as a knowledge graph are new so far. The work was made in collaboration with scientists from the MaRDI project from the University of Münster, Fraunhofer ITWM in Kaiserlautern, WIAS Berlin, and the Zuse Institute Berlin.
Congratulations!
MTSR is an annual international inter-disciplinary conference, which brings together academics, researchers and practitioners in the specialized fields of metadata, ontologies and semantics research.
The preprint is available at: https://doi.org/10.48550/arXiv.2310.20443. The full, revised version of the paper will appear in the proceedings of the 17th Metadata and Semantics Research Conference. An extended version of the work is prepared to be published in the International Journal of Metadata, Semantics and Ontologies.
