SimTech hosts a special event as part of the "Pride in STEM" initiative on November 18, 2024. This evening is dedicated to showing support for the LGBTQIA+ community within the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), while fostering dialogue and visibility.

Program

The event will open with a keynote speech by Cécile Deprez, a specialist in diversity and inclusion within STEM fields. As a researcher, Cécile Deprez actively explores the challenges and opportunities that LGBTQIA+ individuals encounter in science, providing valuable insights into the role of diversity in advancing scientific and technological innovation.

Following the keynote, a discussion will feature voices from the LGBTQIA+ community, SimTech, and the LGBTQIA+ Network BaWü:

  • Dr. Patrick Barth, Project Coordinator and Science Management at SimTech
  • Dr. Jenny Kopsch-Xhema, SimTech Managing Director
  • Jj Link, Media Computer Scientist at Fraunhofer IAO and Representative from the LSBTTIQ Network Baden-Württemberg
  • Tiong Wei Teh, Doctoral Researcher at the Institute of Thermodynamics and Thermal Process Engineering, SimTech/University of Stuttgart

The discussion will center on the importance of diversity at the University of Stuttgart in general and in the Cluster of Excellence in particular, where interdisciplinary research and varied perspectives are key to innovative solutions.
