In the 21st century's societies, Simulation Technology is one of the most challenging research areas in contemporary engineering and natural sciences with a fundamental effect on all fields of human life. It offers solutions for a broad variety of applications with an enormous economic and scientific impact.
This development has been enhanced by new findings in modelling and Simulation Technology as well as by new soft- and hardware components. Recent and future developments in technology and society pose challenges which require Simulation Technology to advance to a new level.

Organisation and Goals of our Research
Our long-term mission is to advance Simulation Technology to a new level by progressing from isolated approaches to an integrative systems science. In this, we are guided by our five central visions.
We engage in seven different disciplines, our Research Areas (RA). These range from Molecular Dynamics and Advanced Mechanics to Computational Mathematics and Systems Analysis to Data-Management and Visualisation as well as to High-Performance-Computing. An Integrative Platform of Reflection and Contextualisation acts as bracket across our research.
In order to implement our visions, the researchers within the Cluster are organised in interdisciplinary Project Networks. These networks are grouped around central application visions and enhance the cooperation within traditionally separated disciplines.
Through transfer, i.e. to industrial applications, the Cluster contributes to the economic benefit of our society.
Simulation research results in software products. Due to the large variety of software solutions used in our numerous research projects, we have developped our software concept.
