First Argyris Visiting Professorship awarded

To strengthen its international and interdisciplinary cooperation, the SRC SimTech awards yearly one outstanding scientist from the field of Simulation Technology with an  Argyris Visiting Professorship.

In 2014 the Dutch Professor for Civil Engineering and Mechanics René de Borst, has been selected as this years Argyris Visiting Professor and given the opportunity to complete a research stay at the Cluster of Excellence SimTech. Professor de Borst has accepted the invitation and joined SimTech at the beginning of June.

To share insights in the research work and give an overview about recent developments the distinguished Argyris Visiting Professor will deliver a special lecture, which is open to the public.

On July 2 at 4.30 pm, Professor de Borst will give a public talk on "Multiple Scales, Multi-physics, and Evolving Discontinuities in Computational Mechanics". 

The Argyris Visiting Professorship commemorates John Argyris, one of the most decorated experts and innovative thinkers in the field of Simulation Technology.

The next call for applications can be expected in September 2014.
